Initiative taken by Kalakad Yahoo group for the benfit of high school students at Kalakad:

The following letter is being submitted to the school principals at Kalakad by Mr. Chandresekaran along with old teaching stalwarts like

M/s. Perianayagam sir, Chella Ganapathy sir and Appu sir.

We hope a new beginning is being made at Kalakad that will change the education scene and we can look forward to fulfilling our dream of seeing Abdul Kalams coming out of our village soon.

Dear Sirs,

Sub: Personality development & Life skills programme for Kalakad school students

We are pleased to introduce ourselves as a group of interested persons of Kalakad origin. We all are proud of being from our native village Kalakad. We have formed this group to have a common forum of the people of Kalakad spread all over the world and contribute our mite in all possible ways we can, for the growth and development of our native village.

We call ourselves as KALAKADIANS. All Kalakadians of our forum share an unified desire to contribute back to our native village on a sustained basis with the skills and expertise bestowed by God Almighty.

We are indebted to Kalakad for making us the beings as we are at present and it is our natural urge to contribute to our village in whatever possible ways we can. We are desirous of enlarging our circle with more like minded people from Kalakad to offer their services to the village folk.

To start with, as we feel, what better way can we find for this purpose, than associating ourselves with all the schools in Kalakad, through which only we have come up to this level with the basic foundation provided therein?

This we propose to start with useful programmes for students and teachers of schools in Kalakad. You would agree with us, we are sure, if we say that mere curriculum teaching will not make the students equip themselves with the skills needed to face the tough competitive world outside.

If that type of seeds of soft skills, (as normally called) are sown in the younger minds, it will go a long way in the overall development of students. This is not a one time affair and it should be done periodically, for which we solicit your cooperation and support amidst your busy academic schedule. Once the system gets established, we are sure that more and more people will join this initiative aimed for the schools and it will become an on going activity.

As a first step towards this initiative, Mr. M. Hariharamahadevan, 1969 S.S.L.C topper from Board High school, Kalakad has consented to conduct free Personality development and life skills programme for students of IX std and above with the necessary inputs on "effective studying and tips for facing the practical world" and fine tuning measures for brighter students.

He is a professor handling classes for leading MBA business schools and also a corporate trainer handling classes for leading industries in Chennai and Bangalore. As a step towards his social responsibility, he has been doing these kinds of free programmes .To quote one, is a programme named DARE THE FUTURE for students above ninth standard. He can conduct faculty development programme for the teachers too. All these have been well received in many schools and colleges (conducted in the past in his individual capacity and recently under the banner of Shanthanjali Trust formed under his departed wife) Prizes will also be awarded to the best participants selected among the students.

This is as we perceive about the proposed programme. We solicit your views on the above and we can arrive at a useful module customized to the students with the necessary inputs from your side. We are eager that our students must and, will come out in flying colours not only in the curriculum level but in excelling in the practical life as well, so that the stamp of our students and schools are engraved in the state map.
